The Airline '59 Custom 3P!!!
This week I'm featuring the
Airline Custom '59 3P by Eastwood!!!
The Airline '59 Custom 3P comes in two awesome colors, White and Seafoam Green. It has a tone chambered Mahogany body, a bound Maple bolt-on neck and a Rosewood fingerboard with block markers. The '59 Custom is equipped with three Airline Vintage Voiced Single Coil pickups, 5-way switching with a vintage switchplate, 3 volume, 3 tone and 1 master volume control. The Custom '59 has a Roller bridge and a Bigsby tremolo with Vintage Kluson style Chrome/Nickle hardware.
Here's some history about Airline guitars from the Eastwood website:
"Airline® Guitars were made in the USA from 1958-68 by VALCO and sold through Montgomery Ward. VALCO also made National and SUPRO brands. Today they are played by people like David Bowie, The Cure, Calexico and White Stripes. Original Res-O-Glas models now sell for $2,000-$3,000."
What I really like about this guitar, aside from the awesome seafoam green paint job, is the rubber body binding. It not only looks really cool, but it's actually pretty functional. It gives you a little more grip while playing it on your lap. It's also a very light guitar, so that makes it even easier to play! It's very much like the Airline 2P DLX, only WAY better! It sounds amazing. I didn't think I could get such a serious rock sound out of a guitar that looks this classy! The Airline '59 Custom 3P is definitely in my top ten!
